Plot

It’s 2003, Salomé, Arlo and Butter travers life in the Netherlands with a daring sense of curiosity and openness. A friendship turns into a love triangle turns into a polyamorous relationship.
At the same time the aspiring singer Juno Zimmerer struggles balancing his life goals with his urge for adrenaline and ecstasy. Two undercover cops are hot on his heels too. When all of their paths converge, Juno pulls the trio of Salomé, Arlo and Butter into his world of crime and they will have to confess and defend their shared feelings amidst the chaos.
A Film about youthful curiosity, unconventional love and always searching for the next high.

a Feature Film debut

A debut feature film has got to make a splash. We will tap into that spontaneous energy of the story and characters to create a youthful film for a new generation of movie-goers as well as for the cinema connoisseurs of the early 90s and 2000s.
We will be shooting in the Netherlands, Germany and France. Spoken languages are Dutch, English and German. This open and outgoing approach toward language and people is the expression of an attitude and a way of life. Giving everyone their own distinct voice.

Financing

Making films is really expensive, even if, like us, nobody earns anything from it. We’ll recive about €2,000 from our university, but we need at least €30,000 to make this 90-minute feature film. We have already shot our first scenes with our own funds, but now we need your support to finish the film! You can donate any amount of money via gofundme.

All your donations will go directly towards the production costs of the film. Everyone who contributes to the realization of CARPET PICNIC will of course be mentioned in the credits.

Expenses include:

  • Equipment reantal: cameras, lenses, lights and much more
  • Props & costumes strait from 2003
  • Travel costs to & accommodation in the Netherlands and our other Locations
  • Catering for our team of unsalaried hard working students
  • Building materials for sets & special effects

Adrian Zacke

Director

Stories have always fascinated me the most. I started drawing at an early age, which allowed me to create my own worlds almost immediately. I started my first medium-length film with three friends when I was 14 and finished it at 16. From then on, I worked constantly on film projects. Every two years, I completed a new, elaborate short film. After graduating from the Waldorf School in Reutlingen, I enrolled at the Hochschule Offenburg where I directed two very different short films and am now finally directing my feature film debut for my bachelors.

pls. Help us

Your help is welcome. Even if you don’t want to give us your hard earned cash, there might still be some other way you could contribute to our project. For example we are still looking for …
… somone who is willing to edit some behind the scenes clips for our social media.
… somone who could cook for our crew of 15 on the days we are filming in Offenburg  (04.-09.06). Even one meal would be a big help!
… a trailer to transport a motor scooter to the Netherlands.
… Falco’s iconic red military style blazer in a size XL.
… all kinds of iconic early 2000s items, like pink flip phones or lava lamps or clothes that could be useful for our setdesign and costumes.

If you think you can help us in any way, please contact us! 😉
